What we learnt at MBA, part-II.

Part-II....

The guy who got a backdoor entry to MBA class. Ran away from all presentations assigned to him. No one ever believed, he would be ever got a placement, finally joins L&T as Manager-Human Resources, jumps to another Indian IT company as Manager-Change Management and serves in their offices in the US, moves back and joins another Indian IT major as Manager-OD and Change Management.
Prima-facie, if you do not believe in miracles, it's fine but you need to believe in destiny. Destiny is nothing but a placement of a chess board, where any pawn or hoof or anyone can be placed in any box, anytime in future, near or far, it is is destined to.

I have seen many a times, nondescript IT guy moving to the client location in EU or US just because, the selected and dependable and deserving guy had some emergency in the last minute and company had no other choice than filling the unfortunate hole. Destiny is required as otherwise, it is elitism. Every dog has his day and Itihaas Gawaah hai aur Wartmaan saakshi hai ke Hindoostaan me kamaal ke president aur PM, CM hue hain.! Kya ukhaad liya humne ya aapnee? That is what I am trying to explain, that destiny is the power that positions a guy in a place at a time as unpredictable that none of the 'rocket-scientists' or clairvoyants could ever find out 'how'?

When I look back at my MBA days, I remember I had declared myself unfit for modern looking companies, as I started seeing that HR for them was a fancy looking doll, beauty w/o brains. English speaking cookie who could make anyone shut his mouth with her immense knowledge of blabbermouth or horrible sense of purpose and reasoning into any small big situations.
I guess, to start with MBA colleges started with a rat-race of declaring, which is a better rated college and that made them consider themselves elite and God-sent business messiah, who would wag his wand (now tail) and make things happen as none of previous three generations could imagine. "Baap na maare medhki, beta teerandaaz!"

I liked when Rani Mukherjee in the talk-show, 'Coffee with Karan', said, that she was a bitch and she does not run with rats! (She was asked , where does she think she was in the number race in Bollywood ranking of heroines.)
What changes have been made to the euphemistic rat-race, over the years? There are bitch-race now, no one  runs a rat race as rat race is medieval and common man's fight (aam aadmi's hunger that fetches him a Hungroo maggie, little bigger pack than the regular one). No more rat-races in the industry. Now, it is either a bitch-race or a sucker-race! Making of choice becomes easier with gender   options.
The difference I see between the rat-race and the bitch-race is, that in rat race, poor rats at least ran! They were competitive. Bitches don't run, they just 'sleep'!
Remember, the tortoise an the hare race? The confident hare had taken a nap and that was the killer nap for him. He lost and we all were told, 'do not take a nap, till you are done with the race'. This is very old story, which was taught and we all poor folks learnt to fight, persevere, show tenacity, never say die, etc, etc and how many of you have won?
The 'New Rules of Success' clearly mentions that you need to have great EQ for being successful. EQ means, Emotional Quotient, where you understand your emotions, drives, passion, fear etc against others and make a great win-win combination! That's the way to succeed.
Now you did all that and you found majority of your peers who reached your levels of success did not even try EQ. They did not go through the sleepless nights that you went through fighting with your emotions and emotional attachment to work!
So, how come they are successful? Mystery!!!! You know how.....

Fact of the matter, is life is choice you make to become, what you are. There is subtle difference between 'choice' and 'compromise'.
Depends on how flexible, accommodating and care-free are your values.

No lunch is free. Either you pay for it or someone else pays for you!
Success is a trade-off between, "what one achieves" and "what one sacrifices".

Some sacrifices give you tears of achievement while others a broken self-image!
When I was a child, I heard someone say, "It is easy to lie to others, very difficult to yourself".

  1. Great article I love every bit of it. It is factual and speaks the bitter truth that everyone knows but fear to express, we have discussed most of the stuff and you have put all these in this great piece of article, if people atleast 10% of them follow what they preach about of honesty fairness, integrity then we would have lot less dissatisfied people, but we are living in a real world where all these emotions have no value, I sometime feel if their is any value for people good and bad alike, in any case we all need to make sacrifice it could be for selfishness or for a greater good, the world values only those who have selfish ends, the person or persons who do it for the greater good can only wonder about this mystery??
