Define your Culture first!
Love the post and that cheeky but very apt line: Culture is not where you work. Culture is how you work! 👏🏻
Task #1: Define your culture at work in clear and objective terms for all staff to understand.
Task#2: Find out the key conflicts or threats that remote work brings to your company Culture..
Task#3: Invite Open Debate on key conflicts where staff opinions are distinctly divided..
Task#4: Bucket outcomes of such debates into three buckets:
Bucket #1: Core to Vision Mission and Core Values of the firm and they are Absolute Sacrosanct and Need no Change
Bucket#2: Obsolete culture elements, need being discarded, serves no purpose and has overlived creating no value to firm, people, customers, etc.
Bucket#3: Unpopular Culture elements, but need test of time....Create/Commission a task Task Force of diversified sections of promotors and Detractors of that/those elements and Build Projects with clear objectives, timelines to test these elements for their values they create vs disharmony they create and take a call to either repurpose those values or discard them... No heartburns...
Leadership buy ins and their active shepherding this exercise is crucial for this exercise..
Well that's my PoV... 😄

"But 𝘄𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲?" 🤔
Ask anyone about remote work, and the “company culture” question tends to come up.
Some think remote work is an axe that'll shatter a company’s culture.
𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴:
👉 Culture isn't where you work.
𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.
👉 Culture isn't wearing a suit or coming into the office at 8 am.
𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲.
👉 Culture isn’t catered lunches or free coffee.
𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀.
The truth is, remote work has exploded.
And it's not the culture killer everyone thinks it is.
Instead, 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿:
- You can expand your hiring pool
- You can respect people's life outside of work
- You can hold team building exercises in unusual places
Today’s culture is about trust, communication, and productivity — not just face time.
So, let's swap "work from home" with "work the way you want to," and watch the magic happen.
